Jailbait make trouble (we're so proud of you).

III. Street-Walking

Because the police barricades on Neptune Ave. were moved back much further this year, it seemed like the street was really wide. We lost our group cohesion a bit, but still managed to dazzle and delight (and occasionally frighten).

Pour some sugar on us...

IV. The Routine

Words cannot describe how awesome we were. You could feel the wind change as people watched us with bated breath. The earth shook from the intensity of our performance. Seriously, we were good.

II. The Boardwalk

Our favorite part of the parade because we get to be so close to the adoring fans.

IRON MER-MAIDENS

The Iron Mer-Maidens is a feisty group of heavy metal mermaids. We made our debut public appearance at the 22nd Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade on June 26, 2004. It was a hot day, but we rocked our asses off. The crowd loved us, the media loved us. Most importantly, we loved ourselves.

Here are some photos culled from various websites celebrating the parade and its participants. This is a work-in-progress, so please check back for updates
(and e-mail me with pics to post, please).

I. The Preparation/Pre-Parade

Arriving at around 11:00 (well, some of us, anyway :), we apply finishing touches to our costumes and pose for photographers.

This "woman" hated us. Last year, she heckled us throughout the whole parade and this year took particular offense to Satan's bare bottom. We were, of course, fascinated with her.

Play music

It's always there... the evil face that twists my mind and brings me to despair...

IV. Post-Parade

Oh, we weren't finished. We had plenty more head-banging left in us.
